The Kitimat Modernization Project consists of a complete rebuild and upgrade of the existing aluminum smelter operated by Rio Tinto Alcan in Kitimat, BC. This project will require a total investment of over $3.3 billion over four years.

Kentron Construction is supplying the ready mix concrete to the project from our new concrete batch plant located a few kilometres from the job site. This job will require over 120,000 m3 of high specification concrete delivered over three years.

This project is characterized by a continuous high resource demand on our crew and equipment.To date, our team has completed two continuous slip-form pours lasting over 4 days and 1000 m3 of concrete. A further challenge facing this year-round project is the need provide concrete in winter despite cold temperatures and large snowfalls.
